Jason Pigott has extensive work experience in the energy industry. Jason currently holds the positions of Chief Executive Officer and President at Vital Energy. Prior to this, they worked at Chesapeake Energy as the Executive Vice President of Operations and Technical Services, Executive Vice President of Operations, and Senior Vice President of Operations. Before joining Chesapeake Energy, they had various roles at Anadarko Petroleum, including General Manager, Southern & Appalachia Planning Manager, and Reservoir Engineering Manager. Jason also worked as a Reservoir Engineer at Anadarko Algeria Company LLC and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Early in their career, they were a Production Engineer at Union Pacific Resources and an Engineer at Pennzoil Exploration and Production Company.
Jason Pigott received their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, where they studied from 1992 to 1997. Jason later pursued further education at Dallas Theological Seminary, obtaining a CGS degree in Basic Theology from 2004 to 2009. In 2016, they attended UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and completed their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General in 2018.

Currently, the organization is focused on oil and gas properties, midstream and marketing services. We intend to expand beyond these markets to power the world in other sustainable and abundant ways. The organization was founded in 2006 as “Laredo Petroleum.” In 2023, we changed our name to Vital Energy to reflect our commitment to grow past our roots in the oil and gas business into other forms of energy that can fuel the future.
