Carlos Ortiz

Carlos Ortiz is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in unified communications and network engineering. Currently serving as the Director of Unified Communications at VITAS Healthcare since September 2014, Carlos leads a team responsible for supporting a comprehensive communications infrastructure for over 130 locations, significantly enhancing operational functionality through automated redundancy and load balancing initiatives. Previously, Carlos held the position of Assistant Director for Voice/Network Engineering at Florida International University, where efforts led to improved collaboration between network and voice services teams. Carlos has also managed communications infrastructure at Altegra Health and served as a lead engineer at Bayview Financial and Broward County, demonstrating a consistent focus on Cisco Unified Communications. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Florida International University.
