Jeffrey Jackson

Jeffrey Jackson is a Non-Executive Director at Volex. Jeffrey was previously the Global Category Manager & COE, Electronics & Electromechanical Category at Smith & Nephew from September 2009 to April 2017.

At Smith & Nephew, Jeffrey was responsible for direct strategic sourcing for 12 sites in Asia, USA & Europe covering electronic components and outsourced manufacturing. Jeffrey led local teams in source selection & development, supplier performance management, contract negotiations, integrating top-level category strategy, keeping it aligned with company strategic imperatives & 9-stage procurement process. Jeffrey also helped change the company culture through stakeholder management & relationship building with other functions and change local vision to one global vision.

During their time at Smith & Nephew, Jeffrey completed several successful projects, including creating and implementing an Asian supplier strategy, converting sole-sourced spend to competitive spend, stabilizing the supply chain to support demand-flow system, and improving the NPD/Sourcing interface.

Thanks to Jeffrey's efforts, the company saw a 38% reduction in PCBA landed costs, a 40% reduction in cable assembly landed costs, and a 29% reduction in power supply landed costs. The suppliers were also shipping to demand-flow triggers with less than 10 day replenishment times. Additionally, the company was able to reverse engineer one commodity, resulting in a 40% cost reduction, and expand from one sole-source to three sources.

Jeffrey Jackson has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Michigan State University. Jeffrey is certified by APICS as a CPIM and by ISM as a Certified Purchasing Manager. Jeffrey is also certified by Transformation Technologies as a Six Sigma Black Belt.
