Ian Tyrls has a strong background in commercial roles within the rail and infrastructure industry. Ian is currently working as the Commercial Director (Pre Contract) at VolkerRail Ltd. Prior to this, they held the position of Commercial Director at Colas Rail and Midland Metro Alliance from 2019 to 2022. Ian also worked as the National Commercial Manager - Strategic Highways at Atkins from 2017 to 2019 and as the Head of Commercial - Consulting and Strategic Infrastructure at Amey from 2015 to 2017. Ian'stenure at Carillion as a Commercial Director lasted from 2005 to 2015. Ian began their career as an Operation Manager at Linford Group Limited from 2000 to 2005.
Ian Tyrls attended Birmingham City University, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying. Ian later pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in Law from the same institution. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the RICS Assessor credential from the RICS in March 2016. Ian also holds membership in the Association for Project Management. Ian is recognized as a Fellow by both the RICS and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), although the specific dates of obtaining these fellowships are not provided.
