Sonya Meeks

Sonya Meeks is an experienced educational leader currently serving as a Principal Resident at Wake County Public School System since August 2021. Prior to this role, Sonya Meeks worked as a Career Development Coordinator at the same institution from July 2015 to May 2020. Earlier professional experience includes serving as the Town Administrator, Budget Officer, and Finance Officer for the Town of Sharpsburg from June 2006 to March 2008, where responsibilities included implementing decisions made by the Board of Commissioners across various municipal operations. Sonya Meeks holds a Master’s degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University (2020-2022), a graduate certificate from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Government in the Municipal and County Administration Program (2006), and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Winston-Salem State University (1993-1998).
