Brent Schlack, PE, serves as the Director of Engineering and County Highway Engineer at the Washtenaw County Road Commission since January 2004. Prior experience includes roles as Project Manager at MS2 - Midwestern Software Solutions and Vice President of Construction at the Public Lighting Authority of Detroit, both in 2015. Schlack also worked as a Traffic Engineer at the Road Commission for Oakland County from 2001 to 2003 and as a Staff Engineer at G2 Consulting Group, LLC from 1999 to 2001. Schlack holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, attended from 1997 to 1999, and pursued studies at Western Michigan University from 1993 to 1996.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is responsible for maintaining a road system that is reasonably safe and convenient to the traveling public. The agency is governed by a five-member Board of County Road Commissioners. Duties of the agency include winter maintenance, road and bridge construction, road repair & maintenance, signal and sign maintenance and ditch & drainage maintenance.
