Jan-G Vermeulen

Jan-G Vermeulen is a Research and Development Scientist at Watchmaker Genomics, specializing in molecular biology with a focus on designing and optimizing proteins and enzymes for DNA manipulation. Prior to this role, Jan-G served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of the Free State, where responsibilities included postgraduate student supervision, teaching, and training within the Department of Microbial, Biochemical and Food Biotechnology. Jan-G has extensive research experience as a Research Assistant in the departments of Haematology and Cell Biology and Virology, conducting vector design and protein purification. Jan-G holds a PhD in Human Molecular Biology, where the research centered on the development of a single chain variable fragment that inhibits human Tissue factor's function. Academic qualifications include multiple M.Med.Sc degrees in Human Molecular Biology and related fields from the University of the Free State.
