The Water and Life Interface Institute (WALII) studies how life interacts with water from the molecular to the organismal level across plants, fungi, and animals, considering reduced water across the entire spectrum.

The multi-scale, transdisciplinary studies of anhydrobiosis at WALII aim to ignite a transformative new field of solid-state biology, focused first on modeling function and dysfunction of biomolecules, cells, tissues, and organisms under desiccation stress.
