Student Design Team Mechanical Member at Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group

Justin Liu is currently a Manufacturing Engineer at Velatron Technologies since September 2024 and a Mechanical Member of the Student Design Team at Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group. Previously, Justin held the position of Test & Validation Engineer at Bend All Automotive ULC from January to April 2024 and served as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the MACFabLab Club from October 2021 to June 2023. In the MACFabLab role, responsibilities included designing and testing 3D printed parts and optimizing a mass production 3D printing line, with significant projects such as a Hydroponic Living Wall System and an Aquaponics Vertical Lettuce Farming System. Justin Liu is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo, expected to graduate in 2028, and holds an Ontario Secondary School Diploma from Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute, completed in 2023.

The University of Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG) is a student design team at the University of Waterloo competing in the Unmanned Systems Canada Student UAS Competition. We are a passionate group of students focused on innovating the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle industry. We take pride in building everything ourselves, from the autopilot and computer vision software, to the custom designed ZeroPilot board that we use on our aircraft.
