Sam Zhang is an experienced Electrical Engineer and Embedded Flight Software Developer at Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group since September 2023. Previously, Sam contributed as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Candrone from June to August 2024. From May 2021 to August 2023, Sam served as the Chapters Co-Eastern Regional Lead at STEM Fellowship, where responsibilities included expanding the chapters program to over 30 high schools across Canada, monitoring chapter progress, and providing support to chapter heads. Sam holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from the University of Waterloo and graduated from Pinetree Secondary School in 2023.

The University of Waterloo Aerial Robotics Group (WARG) is a student design team at the University of Waterloo competing in the Unmanned Systems Canada Student UAS Competition. We are a passionate group of students focused on innovating the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle industry. We take pride in building everything ourselves, from the autopilot and computer vision software, to the custom designed ZeroPilot board that we use on our aircraft.
