Marcella D’Souza

Trustee and Director, W-CReS at Watershed Organisation Trust

Dr. Marcella D'Souza is the Director of the WOTR Center for Resilience Studies (W-CReS) and former Executive Director of Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR). She is a medical doctor by training and a Takemi Fellow of the Harvard School of Public Health. Marcella has spent 6 years in rural communities in South Andean, Peru working in Community and Public Health. She was the Coordinator for Women’s Promotion in the bilateral Indo-German Watershed Program. As Executive Director, in 2009, she initiated the integrated project on “Climate Change Adaptation in Semi-arid Regions” that is now being implemented across 7 states where WOTR has its operations. Gaps in understanding the local needs in different agro-ecological regions led her to establish the trans-disciplinary applied research unit, W-CreS, to provide evidence-based lessons from practice to policy.
