Ezemenari Obasi currently serves as the Vice President of Research & Innovation at Wayne State University since February 2024, while also holding the position of Chief Executive Officer at HEALTH Equity Empowerment, LLC since 2020. Prior to these roles, Obasi was a distinguished member of the University of Houston faculty from September 2012 to February 2024, where responsibilities included serving as the Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished University Chair, Professor, Founder and Director of the HEALTH Research Institute, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Vice President for Research Administration, Associate Professor, and Department Chair of Psychological, Health, & Learning Sciences. Obasi began the academic career at Southern Illinois University as an Assistant Professor before serving as an Assistant and then Associate Professor at the University of Georgia from July 2008 to August 2012. The educational background includes a Ph.D. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in Physics from UC Irvine, alongside a medical training stint at Harvard Medical School: McLean Hospital.
