Tracy Brown has extensive work experience in various media organizations. Tracy began their career in 1996 at The Dallas Morning News as Deputy Arts Editor, where they served until 2007. Tracy then joined Atlanta Journal-Constitution as Deputy Managing Editor, overseeing Features and Education coverage. In 2019, they joined Chicago Public Media as WBEZ 91.5 Managing Editor, responsible for leading day-to-day operations and a team of more than 40 editors, reporters, and producers. Currently, Tracy holds the position of Chief Content Officer at Chicago Public Media, driving editorial impact and innovation.

Tracy Brown attended The University of Georgia from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism.
