Ron Helmhold

Ron Helmhold has a diverse work experience that spans over several industries. Ron began their career as a Senior Auditor at KPMG in 1990 and later served as the Manager of Operations at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. From 1996 to 2006, Ron worked at Biomira Inc., starting as a Corporate Controller and eventually becoming the Vice President of Treasury and Financial Operations. In 2006, they joined WCB-Alberta as the Chief Financial Officer. Ron also served as a Vice Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors at Alberta Municipal Services Corporation starting in 2012. Ron was involved in various roles at CPA Insurance Plans West, including Chair of the Board of Directors and Board Member. Currently, Ron is an External Investment Committee Member at Universities Academic Pension Plan and a Board Member as well as Chair of the Audit Committee at Claystone Waste Ltd.

Ron Helmhold, FCA, ICD.D completed their education at the University of Alberta, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics in 1988 and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Accounting and Finance in 1990. Ron then went on to complete their professional certifications, earning the Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1993. Ron later obtained the ICD.D Designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2008 and the Fellow Designation (FCA) from Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) in 2015.
