Sonya Spaulding has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Sonya is currently the Director of Professional Learning at West 40 Intermediate Service Center No. 2. In this role, they support the mission and vision of the department and contributes to the mission and vision of the organization. Prior to this, they worked as a Licensed Real Estate Broker at Coldwell Banker Realty - Chicagoland. Sonya also served as the Principal at Lindop School District #92 for twelve years, from 2009 to 2021. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Governors State University - Alternative Certification Program from 2008 to 2015 and at Westwood College from 2007 to 2009. Sonya's teaching experience includes positions as a Teacher at Dolton School District 148 from 1999 to 2009 and at Evangelical Christian School from 1998 to 1999.

Sonya Spaulding has a strong educational background in the field of education leadership and administration. Sonya obtained a Certificate of Participation - Principal's Center from Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 2013-2014. Prior to that, they earned a Research Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Roosevelt University from 2007 to 2012. Sonya also holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University Chicago, which they obtained from 2003 to 2005. Sonya received their Bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in 1992-1996, with a major in History and a minor in Biology. Sonya has additional certifications such as the Superintendent's Endorsement from the Illinois State Board of Education in 2012 and a Professional Educator License (PEL) obtained from the same institution in 1999.

West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2 is part of Illinois' network of regional education agencies supporting public schools and districts in the western Cook County suburbs. We provide support by working alongside educators, administrators, families, and the communities, to ensure every student has a chance for success and have every opportunity to become who they are meant to be. Services include teacher and administrator professional development, alternative learning centers, school improvement planning support, and assistance with implementing governmental policies and initiatives.
