Suzy Dees

Senior Director Of Professional Learning at West40 ISC #2

Suzy Dees has a diverse background in education and professional learning. Suzy started their career as a high school English teacher and later transitioned to teaching 8th-grade writing. In 2011, they became an Instructional Support Coordinator at District 87 Schools, where they provided training and expertise on various topics, including curriculum development and implementation of the Common Core State Standards.

From 2002 to 2018, Suzy worked as an Independent Contractor, serving as a Professional Learning Facilitator, Trainer, and Coach. During this time, they supported educators in their professional development and provided guidance on instructional strategies.

In 2014, Suzy joined the Illinois State Board of Education as a Professional Learning Administrator and later became the ISBE Foundational Services Administrator. In these roles, they oversaw the delivery of professional learning opportunities to educators across Illinois, supervised staff, and ensured quality control of materials and resources.

Most recently, Suzy has been working at West 40 Intermediate Service Center No. 2. Suzy started as the Director of Professional Learning in 2018 and recently transitioned to the role of Senior Director of Professional Learning. In this position, they play a key role in West40's mission to provide every student in West Cook County with the best chance of success.

Throughout their career, Suzy has demonstrated a commitment to supporting educators and providing high-quality professional learning opportunities.

Suzy Dees completed their Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Illinois State University from 2008 to 2011. Suzy is currently attending the University of St. Francis since 2023 but has not yet obtained a degree or specified a field of study.

West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2 is part of Illinois' network of regional education agencies supporting public schools and districts in the western Cook County suburbs. We provide support by working alongside educators, administrators, families, and the communities, to ensure every student has a chance for success and have every opportunity to become who they are meant to be. Services include teacher and administrator professional development, alternative learning centers, school improvement planning support, and assistance with implementing governmental policies and initiatives.
