Betsy Thorn

Betsy Thorn currently serves as Associate Vice President of Westat’s food and nutrition portfolio, where responsibilities include designing and directing multimethod projects, conducting quantitative and qualitative research, and translating findings into policy-relevant recommendations. Prior to this role, Betsy held various positions at Insight Policy Research, including Director and Associate Director for Food and Nutrition Programs, as well as Senior Researcher. Early career experience includes a research assistantship at the University of Maryland, complemented by project management at Executive Compensation Advisory Services. Betsy holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Chicago.
