Jaelen Gilkey is a dedicated sports reporter and anchor at WFMY Television Corp., holding this position since December 2018. With a strong background in sports multimedia journalism, Jaelen possesses expertise in live television anchoring, community engagement, and storytelling. Previous experience includes serving as a digital content producer, where responsibilities included posting stories on various platforms, reporting news in real-time, creating original videos, and leveraging SEO strategies to enhance web traffic. Before this role, Jaelen worked as an assignment editor at WFMY News 2 from January 2018 to September 2020. A graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Jaelen earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies in 2017.

Viewers see our WFMY News 2 team in the public throughout the year participating in events to help the community. Our Food 2 Families event collects tens of thousands of pounds of food each year to feed the hungry. Our Tools for Schools project provides 30,000+ students per year with basic supplies to help them succeed in school. We believe in serving the people of the Triad and this belief truly governs the decisions we make as a local information center.
