Gabriel was appointed to WECU’s Board of Directors in August 2019, after serving as an Associate Board Member for a year. Prior to his position at Skagit Valley College, Dr. Mast was an administrator at Bellingham Technical College. He has taught at Bellingham Technical College, Whatcom Community College, Sehome High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mount Vernon High School, and the Universidad del Quindío in Colombia. In 2017 the Washington Education Research Association awarded his dissertation the Outstanding Dissertation of the Year Award. Dr. Mast’s research focuses on institutional contributions to student success, and the role of higher education in social mobility and equity. He lives in Bellingham with his wife, Hana, and their two sons.
