Geir Bakke

Geir Bakke is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in web-based technologies and real-time systems. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Whereby since April 2019, Geir focuses on WebRTC technology, handling both low-level RTP packet manipulation and higher-level client components, alongside frontend development using React and advanced technology integration such as WebAssembly, machine learning, and WebGL. Prior positions include software development roles at Nortek, where Geir specialized in IoT and serverless computing, and LocalHost AS, where full-stack development with a focus on Node was performed. Earlier experience spans various companies, including Oculos, Berg-Hansen Reisebureau AS, and Norges Geotekniske institutt, covering a broad range of technologies from web applications to service-oriented architectures. Geir holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT from The Norwegian School of Information Technology and has a foundational education in maritime and technical disciplines from Bergen Tekniske Fagskole, Bergen Maritime VGS, and Sola VGS.
