Lawrence J. Lau

Professor Lau is the Ralph and Claire Landau Professor of Economics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Kwoh-Ting Li Professor in Economic Development, Emeritus, at Stanford University. He was the Chairman of CIC International (Hong Kong), Limited from 2010 to 2014, and the Vice-Chancellor and President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2004 to 2010.

His specialized fields are economic development, economic growth, and the economies of East Asia, including China. Professor Lau developed one of the first econometric models of China in 1966.

Professor Lau is a Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee and a Vice-Chairman of its Economics Sub-Committee.
