Meghan Herbst first joined WIRED as a research fellow and is now a researcher and contributing writer. Prior to that, she earned a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and reported local news for The Press Democrat and Sonoma Magazine. Before becoming a journalist, Meghan served as a weather forecaster in the Air Force. She grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
