Mike McSaveney

General Manager - Upper North Island at WM New Zealand

Mike McSaveney has extensive experience in operational leadership within the waste management and aggregate industries. Currently serving as General Manager for Waste Management NZ Ltd since June 2015, Mike oversees all operations in the Upper North Island region. Prior roles include General Manager of Operational Excellence and Safety at Fletcher Building and director positions at Rodney Aggregates Supplies and Rangitikei Aggregates, where governance and strategic development were key responsibilities. Mike's career at Winstone Aggregates included various management roles, culminating in national operations leadership, emphasizing best practices and operational performance across Australasia. Educational qualifications include an MBA from Auckland University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Waikato University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences and Environmental Management from The University of Auckland. Mike also holds an A Grade Quarry Manager accreditation from the Department of Labour.
