Ian Martin is an experienced professional in investment and commercial activities, currently serving as the Director of Investment and Commercial Activities at West Midlands Combined Authority since April 2019. Martin oversees the £8bn Investment Programme and plays a key role in various positions, including Director at WMCA JV Limited and Member Representative for HTO1 LLP. Additional responsibilities include being a Board Member and RemCo Chair at WM5G, as well as a Pensions Board Member at West Midlands Pension Fund. Prior experience includes leadership roles at Homes England, Anvil Real Estate, and Marlborough Property Co Ltd, along with a significant tenure at Lloyds Banking Group and Jones Lang LaSalle. Martin holds multiple academic qualifications, including a BA (Hons) in Town Planning and diplomas in Town Planning and Estate Management.

WM5G is a new innovation and digital acceleration company, born from a 3-year DCMS-funded programme to accelerate the roll out of 5G and be the lead partner of the DCMS 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme. The case studies and learnings from the testbed trials will benefit organisations primarily in the connectivity, transport, manufacturing, andhealthcare sectors. They also businesses innovate and become future-fit through connectivity solutions, the Internet of Things, and AI.
