Summer Intern - Copywriter

Internship · Boulder, United States

Job description

Hi there future copywriter coworker.

I’m the most recent newbie ACD/CW and they let me write this here job description. What fools, watch me abuse this newfound power. Please follow me @john.wrend on instagram. Ok, let’s get into it. From what I can tell, WIP is making better work in a less stressful way all while caring about their people fiercely. A rare combination. They’re small (you’ll impact real work), independent (there’s no some rules, like parking), structurally quite flat (no confusing bs layers), deeply concerned for each other (<3), abnormally transparent (I copy pasted some of this from last year’s), pleasantly collaborative (I’ve gone too far to stop this parentheses bit), adamantly ego-free (true), and currently enjoying enough momentum to believe they’re doing something right (We’re hiring, so that’s good).

And making 50 bucks an hour ain’t bad. Actually, it’s really good. No wait, it could be bad, we might be setting your standards at an unrealistic level.

Anywho, we’re looking for someone who can write like they mean it, wants to ideate like they’re plotting brand action domination, and make us laugh hard enough to forget the time I bought a skateboard as my mid-life crisis.

I talked to a CD who’s been here far longer and is probably better in every way. He said it’s the bee’s knees here because it’s the right size where you’ll have to do the work and be responsible for stuff. You won’t be put in the corner making banners or never seeing a production and your ideas all have an equal shot of being produced as anyone else. So that’s rad.

He had 2 horrible internships and wishes you all the best. I should note those 2 internships were not here. I asked him for advice for you as if he were at a wedding speaking to the new couple, he said something insightful about work ethic and “Make it happen.” I liked that.

Role You’ll be writing. Headlines, scripts, ideas, more headlines, actions, more ideas, and more actions. You’ll concept campaigns, contribute to our relentless creative signature, and take on real work for real clients that need a real creative solution. You’ll report to the Partner/CCO, and the Creative Directors.

The Details $50 an hour, 40 hours a week.  June through August.  2 days a week in person at WIP (Tu/Thur).  Real briefs. Real clients.
