Shazabe Akhtar is a Research Analyst in the Cities Program at WRI. He works to support the Clean Air Catalyst working group on identifying the root causes of air pollution sources and assessing their disruptability. In addition, he studies the impacts that air pollution interventions have on gender, equity, climate, and health goals.
Before starting this role, Shazabe was an NDC Analysis intern at WRI, where he supported the Climate Program in its analysis of National Determined Contributions (NDCs) and researched various topics relating to NDCs, land use, and climate pollutants. Shazabe earned his B.A. in International Studies at American University in Washington, D.C.
Shazabe currently lives in Washington, D.C., where he enjoys playing soccer and going for aimless walks around the city.
