WSLS 10
Dwayne Murrell is an accomplished Editor/Videographer at WSLS 10, with experience in digital communication and multimedia. Prior roles include Coordinator of the Digital Scholarship Gurus at Bridgewater College, where responsibilities involved teaching, supervising students, and content creation. Murrell has also served as Head of Social Media and Photography for the JMU Pep Band, handling social media accounts and photo editing. Previous experience as a Marketing Intern at Berglund Center included social media scheduling and writing press releases. Dwayne's early career features customer service roles at Roanoke Valley Community Credit Union and Bath Fitter, focusing on communication and marketing. Academic qualifications comprise a Master’s degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia from Bridgewater College and a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from James Madison University. Additionally, Dwayne holds a Certificate in App Design from University Bootcamps at James Madison University.
WSLS 10
WSLS was the first television station to serve central and Southwest Virginia, officially signing on the air December 11, 1952. WSLS 10 was licensed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Company as one of Southwest Virginia’s pioneer stations.WSLS 10’s studios were built in the early 1950s. The transmitter site is 13.5 air miles Southwest of Roanoke ontop of Poor Mountain, which has an elevation of 4,041 feet in Roanoke County.WSLS 10 offers viewers premium quality news, weather sports and entertainment on every screen. WSLS 10 is owned by Media General, one of the nation’s largest cross-screen, multimedia companies that operates or services 71 television stations in 48 markets along with the industry’s leading digital media business.
