John Carlin

News Anchor at WSLS 10

John Carlin is an experienced news anchor currently working for WSLS-10 since July 2013, covering the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. news. In addition to anchoring, John serves as an adjunct faculty member at Radford University and has ownership of Carlin Aquarium Systems, a company specializing in aquarium design and installation. Prior experience includes founding the John Carlin Agency, where strategic public relations were emphasized, and a role as a journalist at Fox 2127, where John hosted an Emmy Award-winning segment. John also held positions in public relations at Ferrum College and Access Advertising & Public Relations, following a notable 28-year broadcasting career that included managing editor duties at WSLS and anchoring for Grant Broadcasting Systems. John Carlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, completed in 1983.

WSLS 10

WSLS was the first television station to serve central and Southwest Virginia, officially signing on the air December 11, 1952. WSLS 10 was licensed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Company as one of Southwest Virginia’s pioneer stations.WSLS 10’s studios were built in the early 1950s.
