Elizabeth (Liz) Baier is a seasoned journalist and editor with extensive experience in both traditional and digital media. Currently serving as the Supervising Editor at North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC since May 2016, Elizabeth leads a team covering key issues such as K-12 education and environmental affairs. Prior roles include Digital News Editor at WUNC, where Elizabeth expanded the digital team and enhanced audience engagement; Senior Reporter at Minnesota Public Radio, where reporting encompassed a broad geographic area; and staff positions at prominent outlets including the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald. Elizabeth also shares expertise as a mentor in programs such as the AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellowship and NPR's Next Gen Radio, while holding an adjunct instructor role at UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Elizabeth's academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Digital Communication from UNC Hussman and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Miami, among other qualifications.
