Xiao Sun is a member of the technical staff at xAI since September 2023, having previously served as a staff applied research scientist at Meta from December 2021 to August 2023 and as a research staff member at IBM from August 2015 to December 2021, focusing on machine learning hardware and algorithms as well as beyond silicon CMOS device engineering. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral associate position at Yale University concentrating on ferroelectrics and unipolar NMOS circuit design, and a PhD graduate student role at Yale from 2008 to 2013 with research on III-V interface characterization. Additional positions include an internship at IBM in 2011 and a visiting scholar role at IMEC. Xiao Sun earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science in Microelectronics from Peking University.
