Matthew Rice serves as the Vice President of Marketing at Xcoal Energy & Resources since November 2009. Previously, Matthew held various positions at CSX Transportation from May 1999 to November 2009, including Director of the Export Coal Service Group, where responsibility encompassed overseeing a $450+ million coal export market and managing a diverse account portfolio. Additional roles included Market Manager for Utility North, managing utility account sales exceeding $160 million, and National Account Coordinator for Manufactured Products with a focus on logistics strategies for Georgia Pacific Corporation. Matthew earned an MBA in Marketing and Supply Chain Management from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and holds a BS in Marketing from Syracuse University.

Our core business is marketing low, mid, and high volatile hard coking coals from Appalachian mining operations located in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Formed in November 2003 and privately held, Xcoal has experienced rapid/steady growth. We have consistently increased annual contract tonnage and are continuously expanding our customer base of world class integrated steel producers. In 2010, Xcoal’s exports were approximately eleven (11) million tonnes. In fact, Xcoal was the largest coal exporter in the USA during 2010 and did so via ports in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA. Headquartered in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA, Xcoal also has US offices in: Baltimore, Maryland, Key Biscayne, Florida, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
