Sahak Makaryan

Sahak Makaryan is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Currently serving as Principal Scientist at Xencor since January 2025, Sahak previously held roles including Senior Manager at Sarepta Therapeutics, Senior Research Investigator at Incyte, and Senior Scientist at Applied BioMath, where the focus was on constructing and simulating mathematical models to support drug development. Early career experiences include work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where mathematical modeling of Natural Killer cell signaling contributed to cell-based immunotherapy research, and as a Lab Associate at Quest Diagnostics, developing immunoassay methods. Sahak began education at the University of Southern California, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and later a PhD in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering.
