Marlene Daut is a distinguished academic currently serving as a Professor of French and African American Studies at Yale University since July 2022. Daut has held various editorial and academic positions, including Co-Editor for Global Black History and Theory at Public Books and Series Editor for New World Studies at University of Virginia Press since July 2019. Previously, Daut was a Professor of African Diaspora Studies at the University of Virginia from 2016 to 2022 and an Assistant Professor at Claremont Graduate University and the University of Miami. Daut holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Loyola Marymount University. The publication "Tropics of Haiti: Race and the Literary History of the Haitian Revolution in the Atlantic World, 1789-1865," released in 2015 by Liverpool University Press, represents a significant contribution to the field.
