Vibhor Trehan, PhD, is an experienced engineer specializing in systems engineering and functional safety within the automotive sector. Currently serving as Lead Functional Safety Engineer at YASA since September 2021, Vibhor has a robust background, including a role as Senior System & Functional Safety Engineer at ZF Group, where responsibilities included conducting system safety analysis compliant with ISO standards and developing safety requirements for radar systems used in advanced vehicle functions. Prior to ZF Group, Vibhor contributed to Rolls-Royce as a Doctoral Researcher, focusing on design automation and MBSE methodologies, along with experience in lean manufacturing and engineering roles at companies such as Goodwolfe Energy Ltd., Jaguar Land Rover, and Ricardo. Vibhor holds a PhD in Systems Engineering and Design Automation from Birmingham City University and has degrees in Engineering Business Management and Mechanical and Automation Engineering.

YASA was founded on the principle that small, light electric motors would play a growing role in meeting both the strict emissions targets being set globally in a wide range of industries and the requirement for greater efficiency through electrification.The Company was incorporated in 2009 based on a unique patented motor technology invented bythe Company’s founder and CTO Dr Tim Woolmer whilst studying for his DPhil at Oxford University. The unique YASA motor technology is ideal for a range of mobile applications such as hydraulics replacement, power generation, traction and propulsion and hybridisation. YASA Motors manufactures a range of standard electric motors and generators based on our unique motor topology at our factory and Company Headquarters in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The YASA-750, YASA-250 and YASA-400 products have been designed to be integrated into customers’ products in a range of markets and industries with minimal application engineering. In addition to our standard products, YASA has a design and development team dedicated to making bespoke motors for customers for medium-high volume applications.
