Ian later moved into the role of a Field Service Application Technician, where they not only carried out installation, setup, and programming of Yaskawa Motoman welding and material handling cells, but also worked on improving the cycle time of automated systems and provided telephone technical support.

Over the years, Ian progressed within Yaskawa Motoman Canada and took on roles such as Senior Application Technician and Senior Technical Application Specialist. In these positions, they were involved in project management, installation, and programming support for custom cells at key accounts like Honda. Ian also conducted reach studies and simulations for customer presentations and worked closely with sales teams to specify equipment and generate proposals.

In their most recent role as Senior Project Specialist at Yaskawa Motoman Canada, Ian was responsible for project management, ensuring that the correct equipment and processes were specified for robotic automated systems. Ian coordinated with internal and external suppliers to control project budgets and timelines, scheduled internal resources across multiple departments for assembly, installation, programming, and signoff of systems.
