Adrienne Barnett

Adrienne Barnett has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Adrienne currently holds the position of Associate Vice President of Operations at the Greater Austin YMCA, where they have been working since December 2023. Prior to this, from December 2022 to January 2024, they served as the Sr. Executive Director for the Northwest Family YMCA & Four Points YMCA. Adrienne also held the role of Executive Director for the Northwest Family YMCA from May 2022 to December 2022.

Before their tenure at the YMCA, Adrienne worked as the Director of Administration & Partnerships at the Center for Applied Cognitive Science, which is affiliated with the Department of Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. Adrienne was responsible for overseeing research projects focused on behavioral and social change interventions within international development. Adrienne held this position from September 2021 to April 2022.

In addition to their work at the Center for Applied Cognitive Science, they also served as the Director of Administration & Partnerships at The University of Texas at Austin from September 2021 to April 2022.

Prior to their roles in academia, Adrienne worked at Thinkery, an educational institution, where they held various positions. Adrienne was the Director of Learning Experiences from March 2018 to June 2021, Associate Director of Programs from November 2015 to March 2018, and Public Programs Manager from January 2015 to November 2015.

Before joining Thinkery, Adrienne worked at the Exploratorium, where they held multiple roles. From December 2012 to December 2014, they served as the Project Lead for Educational Partnerships in Global Studios. Prior to that, they were the Assistant Administrative Director for Learning Programs from March 2012 to December 2012, the Program Manager for the Teacher Institute from March 2011 to March 2012, and the Project Manager for the Teacher Institute from May 2010 to June 2011.

Adrienne's early career included working as a Science Instructor at the Chabot Space & Science Center from October 2002 to May 2010. Adrienne also held roles as the Youth & Outreach Coordinator from 2005 to 2008 and Front of House Manager from 2002 to 2005 at the same organization.

Adrienne began their career at Nature Publishing Group as a Web Production Coordinator from 2001 to 2002 and had an internship as a Geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey from 1999 to 1999. Adrienne's first professional experience was as a Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin from 1997 to 1999.

Adrienne Barnett completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geology at The University of Texas at Austin from 1995 to 1999. Adrienne later pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Museum Studies and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General, both from John F. Kennedy University from 2008 to 2011.
