Alac Kim has extensive work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2013 at BMO Capital Markets as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst, Alac gained experience in sectors such as consumer/retail, metals and mining, power and utilities, and technology. They then continued to work at BMO Capital Markets as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, focusing on metals and mining and real estate sectors.
In 2015, Alac moved to Rothschild & Co as an Investment Banking Analyst and later became an Investment Banking Associate in the Metals and Mining Group, specializing in M&A, project finance, debt management, and restructuring.
From 2019 to 2021, Alac worked at Canopy Rivers Inc. as an Associate Director and then as a Director in Venture Capital and Portfolio Operations. Alac gained experience in various sectors, including seed technology, plant technology, cannabis cultivation, cannabis extraction, cannabis 2.0 products, consumer packaged goods, B2B sales marketplace, cannabis retailer, and sales data SaaS.
In 2021, Alac joined FOG Ventures as an Angel Investor, serving in the roles of Ex-Diligence Committee Member and Head of Operations. They also became a member of the Operators Guild, an invitation-only group of operations executives focused on professional development.
In 2021, Alac founded and became an Alumni Mentor and Advisory Board Member at the York Finance Club's Alumni Network, a collaborative group of capital markets finance professionals with roots at the Schulich School of Business.
Starting in 2022, Alac took on board member positions at Headset, a market intelligence and analytics software platform for the cannabis industry, and High Beauty, a beauty company offering products formulated with hempseed oil and pure essential plant oils.
Alac's most recent role is as Senior Director of Strategy & Corporate Development at RIV Capital Inc., where they lead the Corporate Development team in finding, diligencing, and executing acquisitions in the U.S. to align with RIV Capital's long-term strategy.
Alac Kim completed an International Bachelor of Business Administration (IBBA) degree in Finance at the Schulich School of Business - York University from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, in 2014, Alac participated in an exchange program at Yonsei University, focusing on Finance.

York Finance Club
The York Finance Club (YFC) is the largest club and the sole organization with a focus on finance at the Schulich School of Business. With an annual membership count exceeding 400 students, YFC holds a number of events throughout the year to equip students with the soft and technical skills required in their career, in addition to operating a student-managed investment fund. Most importantly, we act as a bridge between the students, professionals, and firms. The purpose of the York Finance Club is to educate students about to the finance industry and to provide assistance with recruitment.
