Pei Cao

Pei Cao is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and software development. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at YouTube since April 2019, Pei leads efforts in Trust & Safety, focusing on content safety and the responsible implementation of GenAI features. Prior to this role, Pei has held various positions at YouTube Inc. (Google) since June 2004, including Engineering Director and Principal Software Engineer, where responsibilities included directing YouTube Search and leading mobile app advertising initiatives. Pei's earlier career includes roles at Facebook, Cisco, and as the founder and CTO of Tasmania Network Systems, which specialized in web caching technology. Pei holds a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University and a BS in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, with significant contributions to research in web, networking, and storage systems.
