Xiaofan Luan has had a varied career in the tech industry. In 2021, they became the Partner and Director of Engineering at Zilliz, where they are in charge of developing the world's most advanced vector database and maintaining the community. Prior to this, they were a Senior Staff Engineer and Team Leader at Alibaba.com from 2016 to 2021. During this time, they maintained and developed a Hadoop/HBase cluster for more than 30000 nodes, and was the initiator of Lindorm, the most widely adopted NoSQL database at Alibaba and Alicloud. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Member of Technical Staff at Hedvig Inc. Before that, they were a Software on Silicon Designer at Oracle from 2014 to 2015.
Xiaofan Luan attended Southeast University from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. Xiaofan then attended Cornell University from 2013 to 2014, where they obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) in ECE.
