Obumneke Ohiaeri is currently an AAUW Fellow at AAUW since September 2022 and serves as a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas Tech University since October 2020. Research focuses on the functioning of semiarid ecosystems under changing environments, utilizing an integrative systems approach, which includes fieldwork, greenhouse experiments, building growth chambers, calibrating sensors, and data collection. Previous experience includes roles as a GIS Professional for the City of Garland in 2021, a Soil Scientist/GIS Analyst Consultant for Agricultural Systems from 2012 to 2018, and a GIS Analyst for USAID MARKETS, Chemonics International from 2010 to 2012, as well as a GIS Analyst for the Crofting Commission from 2008 to 2009. Obumneke Ohiaeri holds a PhD in Plant & Soil Science from Texas Tech University, a degree in Geospatial Information Systems from the University of Aberdeen, and a degree in Soil Science from the University of Calabar.
