Dr. Matthias Spiller-Becker began their work experience in 2008 as a PhD student in epigenetics at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. Dr. Matthias continued their work in epigenetics as a postdoc at the same institution from July 2012 to September 2012. In 2012, they also worked as a househusband, father, and postdoc in exile. In 2013, Dr. Spiller-Becker joined Active Motif as a Technical Sales Specialist, where they interacted with customers in Germany and Switzerland who focused on gene regulation and epigenetics research. In January 2016, they took on the role of Key-Account-Manager at Active Motif, responsible for managing key accounts in the same field.

Dr. Matthias Spiller-Becker began their education in 2002 at Technische Universität Darmstadt, where they pursued a degree in Biology. Dr. Matthias completed their "Vordiplom" in Biology in 2005. Subsequently, they attended Heidelberg University from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Diploma in Biology. Dr. Spiller-Becker continued their studies at Heidelberg University from 2008 to 2012, earning their Dr. rer. nat. in Biology.
