Jessica Akers Hughes has extensive experience in labor and politics, currently serving as a Member of the National State Federation/Central Labor Council Advisory Council for AFL CIO since 2014 and as the Executive Secretary-Treasurer for ARKANSAS AFL-CIO since May 2013, focusing on legislative, political, and educational outreach and research on behalf of Arkansas Labor. Additional roles include serving on the Board of Directors for KABF / Arkansas Broadcasting Foundation since 2015 and previously for Local First Arkansas from January 2017 to January 2018. Prior experience includes positions as State Mobilization and Political Director for Arkansas State AFL-CIO and Office Manager for Working America. Jessica Akers Hughes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Economics and International Development from the University of Memphis and completed education at Nicholls State University and White Station High School.
