Aneel Alvares currently serves as the Military Deputy Director at AFWERX, a position held since June 2024. Prior to this role, Aneel was part of the Defense Engagement Team at the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) from June 2018 to June 2024. Aneel's extensive military career with the United States Air Force spanned from December 2001 to June 2018, during which roles included Secretary of Defense Executive Fellow, Director of Operations, Director of the COMBAT SHIELD Program, and B-1B Pilot, among others. Aneel holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University, as well as a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from the USAF Air Command and Staff College.
