Kenny Sabir

VP of Research and Development at AgriWebb

Kenny Sabir has had an extensive career in the technology industry, beginning with an internship at Canon Australia in 1995. Kenny then worked as a Junior Software Engineer at Object Technology International Pty Ltd (IBM) in 1997, followed by a Software Engineer role at Bell Laboratories in 1998. In the same year, they founded Elefant Traks, a record label which still employs five people today. In 1999, they founded and co-convened Sound Summit, a national conference for independent record labels, and received two years of funding from Australia Council of the Arts. In 2000, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Newgency, designing a Web Content Management system in Cold Fusion. In 2004, they joined IBM as a Performance Architect/Team Leader/Developer, working in product development for WCM. From 2012 to 2015, they were a Bioinformatics Architect/Developer at Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and in 2015 they joined AgriWebb as the VP of Research and Development. Kenny initiated a R&D Group within the company and liaised with government, research institutes, industry bodies, universities and integration partners to develop collaborations. As Head of Engineering, they led the technical design and engineering leadership of AgriWebb from starting with a basic MVP with 20 customers, to a $100 million global company with 14 million livestock across 100 million acres across the globe.

Kenny Sabir completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Technology (Part time) at the University of Sydney from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney from 1994 to 1999. Kenny also attended Cherrybrook Technology High School from 1992 to 1993. Additionally, they obtained an Introduction to Biology - The Secret of Life certification from edX in September 2013.
