Sara Kenkare-Mitra

Sara Kenkare-Mitra PhD serves as President and Head of R&D at Alector since December 2021 and holds a board member position at Unicycive Therapeutics starting September 2023. An accomplished academic, Sara has been an Adjunct Full Professor at the University of California, San Francisco since 2004, and has contributed as faculty in the Pharmacokinetics for Pharmaceutical Scientists Course at UCSF from December 1991 until January 2024. Prior experience includes various leadership roles at Genentech from September 1998 to December 2021, culminating in Senior Vice President of Development Sciences. Sara's board membership includes roles at the Association for Women in Science and the Genentech Foundation, and involvement with EPPIC GLOBAL NETWORK. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco, and a B Pharm in Pharmacy from The Bombay College of Pharmacy, alongside other advanced studies in Pharmaceutics and Clinical Pharmacology.
