Alex Lee is a holding company whose primary operations are in food distribution and retailing. The company's four key subsidiaries are Merchants Distributors (MDI), Lowe's Food Stores, Consolidated Services and Institution Food House (IFH). MDI, which supplies over 600 retail food stores, is the largest wholesale grocery distributor in the Southeast. Lowe's Food Stores operates over 100 stores in the Carolinas, where IFH is the largest independently owned foodservice distributor.
