Sophie Lebrecht

Sophie Lebrecht currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) since August 2023. Prior to this role, Sophie was a Machine Learning Manager at Apple from January 2020 to August 2023 and held positions as SVP of Strategy and Operations and Director of Operations at Xnor.ai from October 2017 to January 2020. As a co-founder of Neon Labs from October 2012 to January 2017, Sophie contributed significantly to the startup's strategy. Sophie's academic background includes a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Brown University (2005-2011) and an MA with honors in Psychology from the University of Glasgow (2001-2005), supplemented by an exchange year in Psychology at UC San Diego (2003-2004). Prior to these roles, Sophie undertook a postdoctoral research position at Carnegie Mellon University and was a visiting scholar at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
