Shanahan Foundation Research Fellow at Allen Institute

Maria Tikhanovskaya is a Shanahan Foundation Research Fellow at the Allen Institute since January 2025. Prior to this role, Maria worked as a Student Researcher with the ScienceAI team at Google from January 2024 to January 2025, initially in a full-time capacity for part of 2024 and then part-time until early 2025. Maria served as a Research Assistant at Harvard University from October 2018 to January 2025, engaging in research focused on theoretical condensed matter physics and facilitating undergraduate and graduate-level courses as a Graduate Teaching Fellow, achieving an average teaching rating above 4. Additionally, Maria was a KITP Graduate Fellow at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics from July to December 2022. Earlier in the career, Maria conducted research in theoretical high energy physics at the Russian Academy of Sciences from March 2015 to September 2018. Educationally, Maria holds a Master of Arts in Physics from Harvard University (MA, 2021) and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics at the same institution, expected to complete in February 2025.
