Derek Weisbender

Derek Weisbender is a Partner at Allen Matkins since September 2016 and has served as a Reserve Sergeant with the San Diego County Sheriff since December 2007. Weisbender’s legal expertise encompasses advising on real estate transactions, complex commercial litigation, and serving as outside general counsel for various real estate entities. Prior to Allen Matkins, Weisbender worked as an Associate Attorney at Cummins & White, LLP and Green & Hall, APC, where a significant focus included real estate and business litigation, successfully managing high-stakes cases in California courts. Weisbender began a legal career as a Summer Associate at La Bella & McNamara and has experience in threat assessment and management from time spent with Gavin de Becker & Associates. Education includes a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from UCLA.
