Jota Junior

Jota Junior began their career in 2010 as a Midshipman for the Marinha do Brasil. In 2012, they founded Frop.me. In 2015, they were a Data Scientist and Software Engineering intern for RetSKU, as well as a Back-end Developer for MIT Media Lab. In 2016, they were the Head of Data Science for Beblue. In 2018, they founded Smartlike, where they and their co-founders gained traction on their professional Instagram accounts, reaching 1,000 active paying subscriptions in 5 months and R$1MM+ ARR on the first year. The company was profitable after 7 months, but was eventually crushed by Instagram and the company died overnight. In 2019, Jota Junior and their co-founders founded Alude, a one-stop shop for real estate agents in Brazil.

Jota Junior attended Y Combinator in 2020, where they completed the Batch W20 program. Prior to that, they were a visiting student at Columbia University from 2014 to 2015, where they studied Computer Science. Jota then attended Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais from 2013 to 2018, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science.
